What does the Eastside Tigers Board of Directors do? The purpose of this board is to focus on the high-level strategy, oversight, and accountability of the organization.

Alfredo Gutierrez, Jr.

Co-Founder

Board President 

Director of Operations 

Freddy Co-Founded the Eastside Tigers organization in 2019 and has helped the organization grow ever since. Freddy's responsibility as President of the Board is to be the head of the Eastside Tigers.  He supervises all of the business affairs of the board and acts as the primary contact for the Eastside Tigers. As the Director of Operations, Freddy manages the organization's senior-level management, ensuring day-to-day operations run smoothly. Along with being the Board President and Director of Operations, Freddy has also been the Head Coach of multiple different age group teams within the organization. Freddy is a true El Pasoan, having been born and raised in El Paso. He is an U.S. Army Combat Veteran, having served from 2004-2014. During his military service Freddy received The Purple Heart, along with other awards and decorations. Freddy graduated from Sul Ross State University Police Academy and is a former law enforcement officer. He is also a former volunteer fire fighter. Freddy regularly volunteers his time working with the Military Order of the Purple Heart Organization, previously having been the Commander from 2020-2024. His experience and leadership skills from a career of selfless service has granted Freddy the knowledge and expertise to lead the Eastside Tigers.

Omar Guzman

Board Vice President (VP)

Director of Coaching & Player Development

Omar's position as the Vice President is to provide support to the Board President. Omar also fills the role of President in the absence of the Board President. Along with being the Board Vice President, Omar is the Director of Coaching & Player Development and has been a head coach. Omar oversees the correct implementation of the organization's baseball fundamentals. While many know him as Omar, most know him as Coach Guzman. Omar has played baseball and has had the opportunity to coach baseball at multiple different age groups. Omar is a lifelong El Paso, Texas resident, having graduated Ysleta High School in 2002. Currently Omar works for the City of El Paso. 

"The best opportunity that I have, coaching with the Tigers, is to work with players. I have players ranging from no experience to very experienced. Showing them the fundamentals of baseball and the next steps how to make it to a school team. Showing them what a school team coach will be expecting of them."

Christina Gutierrez, BBA

Co-Founder

Board Treasurer

Chief Finance Officer (CFO)

Christina Co-Founded the Eastside Tigers organization in 2019 and has helped the organization grow ever since. As The Board Treasurer, Christina is responsible for managing the Eastside Tigers organization's finances. For her duties as the Chief Finance Officer, Christina is entrusted with the organizations financial strength, overseeing all the financial functions of the organization. Christina holds a Bachelor of Business Administration Degree in Management from Sul Ross State University and a CPC from AAPC. Christina was the Head Coach for the Eastside Tigers T-Ball from 2019-2022. She has also been the Head Coach for multiple teams. Christina has worked for the Department of Defense (DOD) for over a decade, with the Department of Veterans Affairs and as a DOD Contractor. Christina still finds time to be involved in the community. Christina regularly volunteers her services working with the Military Order of the Purple Heart Organization. Recently, Christina was a board member for the Southwest Youth Alliance League for Spring 2024.

Michael R. Gibson, BBA, NREMT

Board Secretary 

Chief Administrative Officer (CAO)

Michael's position as Secretary is to provide administrative support to the Board. He has also been a Head Coach for multiple age groups and is the Chief Administrative Officer, managing the daily administrative functions for the Eastside Tigers organization. Originally from Michigan, he now considers himself a true El Pasoan, moving here in 2012. He is an U.S. Army Combat Veteran, serving from 2005-2014. He earned his Bachelor of Business Administration in Management from the University of Texas at El Paso. He has also earned two Associate of Arts from El Paso Community College: Accounting, Business, & Economics, and Multidisciplinary Studies. He is a Nationally Certified Emergency Medical Technician and licensed with both the Texas State Department of Health and the New Mexico Department of Health. Although not currently a practicing Reverend, Michael has an Honorary Doctor of Divinity from Universal Life Church. He is currently earning his Advanced EMT Certification, Paramedic Certification, and Associates of Applied Science Degree as a Licensed Paramedic. He is a former local business owner, operating Clean Concepts Auto Detailing from May 2019 to September 2025. Currently , Michael volunteers as an EMT for Hudspeth County Emergency Services. Michael joined the Eastside Tigers organization in January 2023.

Melissa Guzman

Chief Compliance Officer (CCO) 

Melissa's position as Secretary is to provide administrative support to the Board. Along with being the Board Secretary, Melissa is The Chief Compliance Officer. She is responsible for overseeing and managing regulatory compliance issues within  for the Eastside Tigers organization. Melissa ensures the smooth and effective functioning of the Board and its members while helping to manage the day-to-day operations of the organization. Melissa has also been an assistant coach for the 12U team and is often floating around between all the other age groups, providing coaching support. Although Melissa does not have a lot of coaching experience, she loves to help out the players with what she does know. Melissa has been with the Eastside Tigers organization for over two years. After graduating Ysleta High School in 2002, Melissa has worked for The Hospital of Providence. Melissa's dedication and support is one of the reasons that the Eastside Tigers organization continues to grow and thrive.

Nubia Cerino

Director of Fundraising Officer (DFO)

Chief Media Officer (CMO)

As a Board Member, Nubia serves in a key volunteer leadership position that is  responsible for helping guide the Eastside Tigers' mission, strategy, and financial health. She ensures the organization remains accessible, safe, and enriching for all participants. As the Director of Fundraising Officer she is in charge of introducing, continuing or ending any services or current plans for fundraising. As the Chief Media Officer she is in charge of all social media platforms, to include, but not limited to: Facebook, Instagram, Youtube. Since joining the organization in 2023, Nubia has proven to be a dedicated and driven individual. She earned her Bachelors Degree in Psychology, in 2025. Beyond her academic pursuits, Nubia has a strong record of community service. For many years, she has actively volunteered at her local church, consistently demonstrating a commitment to helping others. Her involvement has spanned various outreach programs, including those that support children, young adults, and senior citizens, demonstrating her diverse skills and compassionate nature. Her contributions highlight her dedication to improving the lives of those around her. With her strong academic foundation and extensive volunteer experience, Nubia is well-positioned to help the Eastside Tigers to continue to grow. 

Jaime Gonzalez, M.D.

Medical Director (MD)

As the Eastside Tigers Medical Director, Jaime is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing all health, safety, and medical protocols to protect our athletes. He ensures compliance with safety standards, manage injury prevention strategies, and act as the senior authority on return-to-play decisions. As the Medicial Director he oversees and manages the medical personnel who volunteer to be the organizations first aid attendants (such as EMTS, Nurses, etc), ensuring their certifications and licenses are in compliance with all regulations. Jaime was born and raised in El Paso. He graduated from Bowie High School and received a Bachelors in Nursing from UTEP. He went on to medical school at the Universidad Autonoma de Ciudad Juarez. Following medical school, he did his internal medicine and nephrology training at Texas Tech University Paul L. Foster School of Medicine. He worked for one year at Border Kidney Specialists before joining El Paso Kidney Specilaists in 2017. He specializes in general nephrology with particular interest in diabetic kidney disease, end stage renal care and peritoneal dialysis. He has a passion for baseball. The Los Angeles Dodgers is his favorite team. He loves watching The Dodgers with his family.
